Areas of Interest to Québec

Québec is a member of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) and the World Road Association (PIARC). It maintains relations with other international organizations that operate in exclusive Québec areas of jurisdiction and those that it shares. It works in collaboration with Canadian authorities as regards these international organizations, thereby extending its domestic responsibilities to the international stage.

In addition, participation by departments and organizations of the Government of Québec in multilateral organizations makes it possible to benefit from highly profitable contact with foreign specialists and to spread the word on Québec’s programs, achievements and know-how.

The Ministère des Relations internationales also coordinates participation in multilateral forums of special interest to Québec by having its own representatives within Canadian delegations.

The areas of particular interest to Québec and their corresponding international organizations and committees are the following (international organizations that have either a branch office or head office in Québec are marked with an asterisk):

Aboriginal issues

Alimentation and Agriculture

Cultural heritage and identity in the Latin world

Culture, education and identity

Economic and social development

Health

Human rights
