The Québec recording industry has been particularly creative over the past fifteen years, diversifying production by making room for more jazz, classical, hip hop, alternative and world music. This diversification has also helped broaden and develop new audiences. Aided in part by its unique geographical situation, Québec’s music industry has managed to carve out an enviable position within its own market by encouraging local production through independent companies. Over the years, these companies have adapted to changes in the industry, while establishing an increasing presence on international markets.
